So i went to the subie dealer today in an attempt to get my eyes on an 08. The salesman told me that they wont have them until next week. However, when he tried to show me pics, i told him i saw the pics and didnt like them and that i wanted to see it in person. He then asked me if I wanted to order one. When I told him that I hated the new style, his face changed and he said, yeah we wont sell them. They are terrible. And this is coming from a subie salesman..HAH

Ok, so I have a few questions for you guys and I didn't want to start a new thread just for this.... there was a new wrx at my local dealership so I decided to stop in and talk over the specs with the salesman.... he knew I had an 06 so he wasn't trying to sell the car to me or anything.... but anyway..... here are the 4 things of interest he told me:

1) The car is totally made of aluminum....(everything that I've read suggests the car incorporates plastic body panels)....

2) The car has 224 WHEEL horespower and weighs 200kg less than its predecessor.... apparently Subaru switched measuring system and now measures power at the wheels....

3) The STi here will come in a sedan and a hatch and will have over 330hp....

4) The 08 WRX comes with stock 18 inch rims....

I don't believe any of this other than the possibilty that the STi comes in a sedan in NA.... can anyone confirm any of this?

Thanks

At first I thought it was ugly, but I think its growing on me. I hated the way the 06s looked too, but now I own one. Guess we'll just have to get used to it.

I posted this on another thread:
I actually received the new issue of "Drive Performance" which is Subaru's performace magazine. In it, the have a write up on the 08 and compare it to the 07's. Both have the same HP and Torque. The 07 has 224hp @ 5600RPM and 226 ft lbs torque @ 3600RPM. The 08 has the same HP but its at 5200 RPM and the same torque but @ 2800 RPM. Which is nice becasue my 07 same to run really high. Im at abouts 3000 RPM on the highway at 70 MPH. They also have an article about how SPT is already testeing and making performance parts for the 08. However, all this does not change the fact that its ugly. Why is the TMIC soooooo small??????

As far as the HP goes, its crack horsepower.
As far as the 18 in wheels, www.subaru.com lists them as 17x7.0
The vehicle is NOT all aluminum!!!!!!!!
The STi will only be made in the 5 door/hatch version, though according to www.edmunds.com, it will have 330 CRANK hp, not at the wheels but a significant increase over the 07 STi. But, its still ugly
