Yeah, I've looked over a ton of RD's and that was one of the best rated while in the mid price range. The top of the line windshield mounted ones are going for $500... Effin crazy. Between all of the latest and greatest that one you have still has some excellent range from all the comparisons I've read. THE best ones for windshield mount (ones you don't need professionally installed in the front and rear bumper/grill) are the Beltronics STI driver (like the name, lol), Escort Redline, and escort 9500ix. Of course the Valentine 1 is still an oldie but goodie. Here's a review with yours and couple others, plus some good links to find out more if you so desire: Radar Detector Reviews & Comparisons Test: Beltronics (BEL) RX-65 Pro vs. Escort Passport 8500 X50 vs. Valentine One (V1)

I got to admit, the best mod is one that saves you alot of money, lol.

I have an escort 8500 x50 and i don't drive without it. The only problem that I know about is that after about 2-3 years they will start flashing service required. Aparently they lose their calibration and have be sent in to escort to be recalibrated. Which isn't such a big deal except for the $80 dollars they charge. Between a friend of mine and I, we have had five escorts and they have all done it. As far as I know the beltronics and valentine do not have this issue.
