Paint protection plan from dealership?

I just got a Aspen White 05 WRX wagon. When i bought the car they offered a Paint Protection Plan. Its basicly a glorified exterior detail, but with a warrenty. Its warrentied for 5yrs against swirl marks, fadding, acid rain, bird poop, oxidation, and some other things i forgot. Its 350 bucks, and im not sure if i should just go ahead and do it or not. Opinions?

I used to work at a Nissan dealership detailing cars and we would push stuff like that, it's just wax in other words a bunch of crap. Put the money towards a down pipe

I have a blue 04 WRX and I am having paint problems. One problem is that I bought the car in the winter so I didn't see the bird poop spots. It must have had a bird poop on it and the dealer never washed it and now it is stained in several places. On top of that the paint is chiping and peeling back in some spots about 8 in all over the car. My car in garaged and rarely left outside. Depending on the cost of the waranty I would think about it. Besides they might not sell it if there are not problems with the paint.

Wax or no wax if you leave bird poop on there long enough it will leave a mark, wax won't stop the car from chipping or pealing ether

Wonder if that covers paint chips? If so, it's worth the money.

My '04 San Remo front end chipped like mad. I showed a SofA rep, and he repainted the front end, but that was only because I told them I'm degreed in Chemistry, work in the coatings industry, and can tell there was a problem with the paint. Turns out they stopped using Solvent-based paint in '04, so the paint was not going to be as strong as the paint on my old '98 Dodge.

Paint Problems

Yeah,
I just bought a new 05 WRX Sedan, and after I got home my mom noticed a spot on the paint that didn't look right. When I brought it back to complain about the paint they told me there wasn't anything they could do about it, because it was a mistake at the factory. They told me they would try and fix it but they would try once and if it didn't come out right i would be stuck with it. I really think that Subaru or my dealership should do something about it.

Goodluck,
Dan

That sounds like it should be a factory defect and replaced or repainted under warranty.

Yeah they just keep giving me the run around, but I am going to call the General Manager of the dealership and complain to him and see what he will do for me.

yeah I know tell me about it. Although they had to replace my speedo and on the invoice it had the paint problem so they have it under record I just need to push them some more to fix it or give me something extra to make me happy. We shall see what happens.

My 1993 Integra stands up better to chips then my 2005 wrx, i cannot stand it. everyday a new chip in weird random places too.
On my bumpers top theres this chip, i normally dont put things in my trunk that would possibly scratch or chip my bumper so i have no idea what it is..
I am so dissappointed with how cheap the paint job is.. i feel like i cannot even lean on my car or else my leather belt will scratch it lol

hehe oh well i guess when you get a brand new car its always gonna scratch more than the older cars just to mess with you..
