Don't cut anything. You can buy these long thin crimp-on metal pieces in the electrical section at Pep-Boys. Crimp them on the end of each wire and cover the connection with electrical tape. The ends fit snugly into each hole of the stock recepticle plug. This makes it easy to take off if you change your mind and want to replace them some day.

I have lost the packaging for these parts but I'll try to look for them the next time I'm at Pep Boys to see what the part numbers are. They are meant for replacing the contacts inside some kinds of stock electrical plugs.

Put you finger tips on the bottom and slide the piece upward and then the bottom out. The marker is retained by plastic hooks on the bottom and a spring clip on the top. No tools are necessary for removal.

It's most likely paint of that stuff you spray on tail lights to tint them out.

You know, I never thought of that. I own a vinyl cutter and a whole roll of that carbon fiber vinyl. Maybe I'll do some kind of STI logo or something in the vinyl so that when you turn the light on you see it. I'll mess around with it and post some pics in the next few days.

I have the same clear side markers as dnaracer, but when I got mine, I didn't like the orange bulb showing, so went to my friends store and I picked up some Varad 12 volt L.E.D.'s.
When they are of, you cannot see anything because they have a clear bulb, but when the parking lights come on, they are a bright blue.
I picked up some amber eurolite L.E.D. bulbs to go into my oval side blinkers (behind wheel well) They also are stealth until they light up.

I hope that my tails didn't blind ya as you was schooled, foo!

Dnaracer, did you get the led's that replace the 194 bulb with a led version of the bulb, or did you modify the housing to install other led's?

i didn't have to modify it. i just went to autozone and they had them. it looks really clean. it's clear when it's off, then when you turn it on it's orange. i think it's the same part number as the original bulb. it's been a while since i replaced it but i'll try to look for the little packge thing it came in.
