gauge install - what not to do...

Well, attempted my first install today, went down in a faming heap. Was attempting to add a mech. boost gauge, dual gauge bezel and egt gauge.

Btw, when adding the boost gauge, do I need to make sure and find a tee that is the smae inner diameter as the joint piece that is currently there or can I use a 3/16" piece? I know it isn't recommended to do the 3/16" mod with nothing else but I had difficulty enough finding a 3/16" tee much less one of that size. Course I did learn what the 3/16" mod was today too.

Look ma no bezel!

successfully removed lower screw...

installed brackets... so far so good

note: autometer is full of crap in instructions. This is how it _should_ be. Also of note these are not tapped, might be wise to run the screw through before mounting the bezel. I didn't and it was kind of a pain.

successfuly glued rubber guard to bottom (bezel has no mounting points...) This modding stuff is easy.

when manhandling hose, don't push too hard. Crimping it is bad. Then spinning it in your hands after realizing you just botched the whole day doesn't help either.

Aren't they pretty? Too bad they don't do a thing.

killed the line on the boost line (parts store had no replacement, will try another tomorrow) and didn't even consider the egt since I realized I'd just have to remove it when I do the uppipe next weekend. So yeah, not connected.

Course I could do the egt in the header near cylinder 3 (read this was recommended) but that is a bit intimidating for my level of confidence.

What is the autometer part numbers for the pod and gauges? Are they 2 1/16 gauges. Also where do I find instructions for taking the dash apart? I may want to go with the STI like pod in place of the clock panel and I have know idea on how it comes apart.
Thanks jjs305

no idea on the part #s but they were the autometer cf (52mm) egt gauge and cf (52mm) mech boost gauge. The bezel is the autometer dual gauge bezel. Should be able to google part #s from that.

Taking apart the dash, well, I've done it, but didn't use a manual. I just started removing screws. But the service manual would tell you. It's not cheap retail but you can get cd's with it in pdf format for $10 on e-bay (so I've heard).
