DIY glowing TMIC mod and my new hoses

So as far as I know I made this up :) I have yet to see it anywhere else yet. I tapped 4 holes into the side of my TMIC and got rubber bushings to sleeve in, then wired in 4 LED's to light it up. The hood scoop glows of course, which is an added bonus, but those pics didn't come out. I plan on doing much more under the hood, let me know if you need a walkthrough on this mod, but I think it's self explanatory.

WRX guys are gonna have a hard time, the STi's high walled TMIC was perfect for this.

(I got a camera that rocks so hard it takes pics like 9 times the size allowed, and I don't have editing software, here's the link: Pictures by code72chase - Photobucket)

Tell me what you think and feel free to resize the pics so they're in the thread if you like.

Its a cool concept, especially if you have a show car. And the fact its a DIY is good considering it shouldnt have cost too much money, not really sure if its my cup of tea. But congrats on being different and successful at the same time.

Didn't have time to comment last night, so I posted the pic and ran. I kinda like it, but think you need an led in the middle on each side to even the color out.

i think it looks cool. did you take any pics with the hood down? i have blue leds attached to my hood so it shines out the scoop, and when the hood is open it shines blue all over the engine

I think it looks great! Some pics with the hood down would be nice to see. Shaggy, any pics of yours?

Mines a lot more subtle than that, more of a slight glow than looking at an actual bulb. Looks good too though. I'll post pics tomorrow.

Thanks for all the comments/compliments.

Reminds me of Knight Rider except it should be one light going back and forth. Isn't there a law against using externally visible blue or red lights so that people don't confuse you with emergency vehicles? Anyway, I'd be careful and wire up a switch so you can shut them off easy.

I think I might try this today, do you just run the wires to the headlight wires or some kind of accessory just like you would for gauges?

i wired mine to a seperate switch, so i can turn it on or off whenever. i ran the wires through the firewall behind the glove box to the tray under the radio. you can't even see the switch when it's off, so it's not obvious.....pretty easy mod

the other day i saw led strips at the auto store, about 6 inches long. that would probably look better than two lights, you should look into that
