Don't use them anyways...HIDs need a retrofit or a HID headlight assembly that is OEM.

Kirt, is a retro fit as bright as an HID, or is a retro fit have an HID in them

turmic 12-03-2013 08:14 PM

A retro fit is fitting HID projectors in a non-HID headlight. It can sometimes be even more clear than some OEM headlights because certain projectors are better than others.

You need to either have them retro fitted or buy a used set of JDM headlights, which look way better IMHO.

That may be biased though

I had to wire up my hids using a relay off of the stock plugs because just plugging them in didn't work for me either. You just use the stock plug to activate a relay and run a power wire from the battery (fused of course) through the relay to the hid positive, then run the hid ground wire to the chassis, boom the lights work with the stock switch and you don't have to worry about melting the stock harness or cutting into anything.

This isn't much better. Any car that doesn't have HID optics shouldn't run HIDs at all. She needs a retrofit as well. Bugeyes are just known to be extra terrible with the wrong type of lights put in.

So, somewhat of a thread jack, but I have HIDs in mine and I'm not sure that the housings were replaced when they were done. So I have 2 easy questions, 1 how do I tell if they have been changed and 2 if they have not been replaced how hard is it to go back? Ie do I just unplug the ballasts and put non HIDs in?

n8mcd 12-04-2013 11:40 AM

Take a picture of the housings with the lights off and post it here, and yes you can just go back to standard bulbs as long as whoever installed the kit didn't cut or mess with any wiring.

^ will do tonight, I'll start my own thread. Thanks!

99 in 100 people just toss HIDs in. I doubt you have retrofits.
