cabin air filter

all -- do any/all new subbies come with cabin air filters from the factory?

AllExtinct 09-25-2012 05:19 PM

All new vehicles should have cabin filters in. Some used dealerships take out the used cabin filter and don't replace it with a new one "know from experience" guess they just try to save a dime?

Most are located behind the glove box and pretty easy to access.

Chuck, the older WRX's didn't come with one. At least my 02wrx and 07wrx didn't. Not sure why they do this except to cut costs. Might still be doing this on the 2012's

My 07 came with one. I guess it depends which dealer you buy from.

AllExtinct 09-26-2012 09:21 AM

Mine didn't come with one either Paul but my guess was that the dealer took the old one out and didn't replace a new one. Not sure if the 06 had one or not.

You would think they would all come factory with one.?

I bought my 02 and 07 new.... I took it in the poop-chute it seems.

How many ppl check that when looking into buying a new car? LOL

No worries, they're fairly cheap on eBay.. like $7-8 bucks or so

There used to be a woman that sold reusable ones (wash with water and soap), but she's not on there anymore. Looked last night for you. I'm sure there are others.

I've also seen d.i.y. filters made out of home air filters. You could also get fancy and throw a scented fabric softener sheet in there if you want your air to smell all pretty <3

These were metal cases with washable media in them.... They rocked.

I would be into this. Obviously, I have an air freshener addiction I think.

Yeah, for sure... judging by the tiny forest of scented trees hanging proudy from your rear view mirror :p
