I was gonna run the STi through the car wash the other day, but decided not to. I couldn't help but think those whirling brushes might get caught on the wing and rip it off my trunk. So I ask. Have any of you run yours through an automated car wash? How did your wing handle it?
i have had my car for a little over 3 years and have always went thru the auto car wash.ive had no problems. ive got the jdm wing on my car thats bolted in the factory bolt hole locations that were for the stock wing.
If I run my (WRX) car thru the car wash its thru the brushless type. Its the only ones I ever use when it comes to a pinch. Usually during the winter months. I dont trust the brushes on my car and I dont even have any type of wing on my car.
I only use the touchless type. I know of someone that took thier patrol unit through one and left out quickly after an antenna that was ripped off of a previous car and stuck in the brush, beat up his windshield and lightbar on the roof, and beat the car up pretty bad.
Id rather not take the chances and take the time to show love to my WRX. Yes it takes alot of time but you know your not going to damage anything, and by taking your time, she will shine perfectly.
My dealership gives a free car wash with any service performed and they will only use a touchless with my car. Because they don't trust their car wash to not damage my STI wing.
swirls in paint is beat!
I spray my car weekly, and in the summer months I hand wash her(spending hours at a time)
