Air conditioner removal is a huge advantage and quite a bit of weight removed. Also with that being removed you also have less rotation of mass with all the belts going together. I just removed my air conditioner from my 03 WRX. Now, I have pulled the engine to do an engine build so removing it was very easy but time consuming. I purchased the Subaru repair manuals which is a set of 9 books and they are the greatest purchase I have made yet. $360 is not cheap but in the long run, if you need to know anything about the car, it's there and how to remove or take things off. Torque specs for every nut and bolt are in the manual.
Back to the air conditioner removal. The only time I would remove it is if you were going to just straight up race it like I am (Road Race). If you live where its hot and don't mind the heat, go ahead and do it. You would being taking off alot of weight and gaining another 15-25 horse depending on what you want to do with the car. If you would like, I can scan the pages section of the air conditioner and e-mail them to you so you can see what is involved. Just let me know and I can have it for ya. My WRX is no longer a street car so I really do not need air condition. Let me know, and I will send it to ya within a couple of days. Take it easy and good luck with your car.

I can't give you an exact weight but the Compressor is actually pretty heavy for what it is.. Other the that your not going to save much. The condensor is thin and shouldn't be that heavy.. However as GT said it should reduce friction on the drive belts and it will also allow you to relocate your alternator and run a reverse manifold thus shortening your intercooler piping if your running a FMIC.. (Custom piping)
