Cool 2003 Bugeye Headlight DIY Mods HELP!

I have a 2003 white WRX sedan that I really would like to change the lights out on. I like the look of the blacked out innards of the JDM lights but I don't want to put the money into it just yet . I heard rumor that there is a way to pull my lights apart and custom paint them myself. How do you get them apart? Advice?

Yea I saw those a few days ago. I'm just a little worried that they wont be quite as waterproof. I would trust myself a little more to do the weather proofing the right way. I'm just a bit curious as to how I could pull it apart with out murdering the back of it completely. Would a heat gun do it?

If you google it you can find several different writeups on how to get your lights apart. I used to have it bookmarked, but lost it. And since I probably wont ever do mine, its not a loss to me, but it is out there.

Do this:
Part I

Part II

Part III

Part IV

That shows you how to take them apart and put them back together too, You can use a heat gun too if you want to.
