Hey GUys
NEw 16 wrx limited owner
I notice the clutch pedal/gaspedal/brake pedal are positioned pretty high close to the bottom of the dash.. Is there any way to lower or bring them back closer to the firewall, or closer to the floor? I saw some adjustment on the clutch pedal but wasnt sure this would accomplish what i am wanting.
Thanks for any info guys! Glad to FINALLY have a wrx
Im not sure how similar the clutch setup is on the new WRX to the older versions but on my 13 there is a yoke attached to the arm on the clutch cylinder, That yoke attaches to a post that runns left to right and parallel to the ground from your clutch pedal over your brake pedal. That yoke is held on by a pair of retaining nuts and you can realtivly easily pull the pin that holds the yoke to the arm, loosten the retaining nuts and adjust the yokes position to adjust where the clutch catches. Just keep in mind you will need to also adjust the sensors up top for cruise control and the starter interlock so the car senses that the clutch is fully in.
The brake cylinder is more of less the same with the exception being that the brake pedal is directly connected to the brake master cylinder via a yoke.
The gas pedal is not adjustable to my knowedge as it is a fly by wire system. Being electronic the only option I can think of would be to purchase an aftermarket throttle pedal ( but Im not sure if there are any on the market currently for 15-16 )
One last word to the wise, adjusting the clutch pedlas throw can take you out of the 0-100 range on the clutch. Eliminting even just a tiny part of that range can have permanent effects on the drivability of the vehicle. Please keep to only small adjustments and test, test, test and when your done testing test some more. Please dont take the car out on public roads until your sure that everything is working correctly.
There are lots of Subaru dealers who won't TOUCH the pedal adjustment on the clutch and deny it's existence. Especially with aftermarket clutches it should really be adjusted but few dare. Fair warning.
- I actually asked 2 dealerships if it was an option and was told no both times. I didnt figure it out until I did a clutch pedal adjustment on an FRS that the WRX has a similar brass yoke setup. That said I found the parts to adjust but Im to scared of making a tiny adjustment too far and glazing clutch because it never makes full contact, or worst grinding down on my throw out bearing because its always slightly engaged. Thus why the warning. Possible but not the safest option out there.
theres lots of options you can do before actually touching any sensors or anything sensitive. cut the pedal arm and weld in a longer piece. though i havent heard of anything like this being sold. you would need to look into a custom fab job. but still should be relatively easy. just grind it smooth and paint when your done and it'll look factory.
