05 Fog Light Blub Replacement

So I bought a replacement bulb for my 05 fog light. I removed the plastic under the bumper, twisted off the black cap on the back of the fog light and it revealed the wires for the fog light. The problem I am having is that I am hitting some large black plastic box and cannot get the black cap out of the way and I also cannot see the back of the fog light to get at the retaining wire that holds the bulb in. Any tricks on replacing these bulbs? I can see some large screws under the fog light assembly but it look like they are attached to the bumper and I don’t see any benefit to removing them. Although I could be wrong. I understand the process; I just can’t get the black cap out OR see the bulb itself. Thanks!

You pretty much have to go by feel. If you have a tiny mirror, you could try holding that up there with your hand so you have an idea about how the thing comes apart. Also, pay attention to exactly how the old bulb was in there (half-circle side up or rectangle side up... you'll see what I mean). That just makes it easier to line the new bulb up the right way before you clip it in. It's always fun working in tight spaces.

No prob.. another way to do it is by taking the entire headlight assembly out and working from above. That way you'll get plenty of natural light and you'll have more visibility and an easier angle to work from. I only know that because I looked around when I took my headlights out to paint them. I don't recommend doing it this way, but I guess it's an option.
