Will Only Push Start

I went to turn my 05 WRX on about a week before I went on vacation and it would not start. It turns over, and all the electronics come on. It will push start but that is it, battery checked, fuel checked, camshaft and crack sensors checked, as well as the spark plugs. Any ideas on what else I could try.

What do you mean by 'turns over'?

The starter cranks the motor, but it doesn't fire?

If it won't fire with the starter, there is no way it should start with a push....

He means it bump starts, look into the starter.
Doesn't sound like its throwing out. Sometimes just before there dead you can tap them with an object and that will allow them to throw out a few more times.

Yes, this. Tap it a few times with a wrench or something on the side. What happens is the brushes wear down and make poor electrical contact. Tapping it will sometimes (while someone is turning the key) allow brief contact and get the vehicle to start. If this is the case, get it replaced. It's a bad starter.

Sorry for the late reply, I have tried all kinds of different things, but its narrowed down tremendously, the start is not engaging the flywheel. Any ideas on how to test that theory or make it engage?

Take the starter off and dis-assemble it.

Very common for the Bendix gear to stick on crud on it's shaft, starter will turn but not meet the gear.

Taking it to bits is quite educational - you'll see how much 'life' is left in the brushes, and you can put a little oil in the bushings/bearings, and clean out all the black road crap.

I completely replaced the starter, advice from my dad who is a mechanic, still does the same thing. I tested the relay and it did the same thing so the relay is good. The only other thing I can think it would be is the little cable that attaches to the starter, or the flywheel.
