Whirring/whining sound when decelerating in 2nd

Driving home today I noticed a whirring/whining sound when I was in second decelerating from 25mph down to 10 mph or so when I went into neutral to stop. It was a sound that I never heard before so I don't really think it's normal.

When I noticed it I was decelerating in second giving it no gas. Once I press in the clutch or when I add gas the noise goes away. It's not really noticeable and loud, but if my music is low or off I can definitely hear it. I am thinking it has something to do with engine breaking being as I am off the gas and slowing down in gear. Not sure though. Any ideas what could be making this noise?
