Brought my car to the dealer yesterday due to a CEL. They told me that I need a new wastegate solenoid, but my car was safe to drive until they received the new part. If I am not mistaken, the wastegate solenoid controls the amount of boost, correct? Doesn't driving my car with this being broken run the risk of damaging my engine?
I don't know what the CEL code was. Sorry I don't have more information. I was driving down the highway, downshifted and floored it. Then it felt like the engine misfired and the CEL came on. However, the car drives fine and nothing seems wrong. All I know is that the dealership told me I needed a new wastegate solenoid. And I'm assuming that they aren't lying to me because they have to pay for it due to warranty.
Well if its under warranty you are good to go. But more than likely you over boosted. It happened to me a total of 4 times while I was stage 2. I cleared the CEL, reflashed stage 2 and was good to go. Nothing was ever broke or out of the ordinary. It happened about this time of year when it was cold and all. Im pretty sure that is what happened to you. But again, if its free, I wouldnt worry about it.
Not a problem. I just hope they are quick about fixing it for you.
