Question Is it wastegate flutter and is it bad?

I have a 07 wrx and from the day i got rid of the factory muffler it started making funny noise. It is from the front of the car sounds like passenger side. From just off idle to just before it makes positive boost it rattles or pings or something. first with just a magnaflow muffler then i bought the cobb stage two package and replaced it all the sound is still there. there is nothing loose i already checked that, and it runs fine. once the boost comes on the sound goes away. What is it and is it bad? Do i need to fix it or just deal with it

Can you describe the noise a little better? "Rattle or ping or something" doesn't really give us any idea on what the sound is like.

Crap why didnt he continue this thread. I also have a stage 2 07 WRX with the Cobb AP & Cobb catted TBE. It also makes a ticking noise. Not at all when revving and not in gear, but under acceleration in 1st & 2nd from take-off till about 3k rpm or so, and only with the windows down. I can hear it no matter how much I get on it, but it is more pronounced at WOT. It is irritating, sounds just like an exhaust leak. From what I have read it is probably just wastegate flutter. Sound right? Any other possible explanations? Car has 15k on it and just had its 15k service. Asked dealer about it and they "claimed" they could not hear it when they drove it, which is complete bs.

Check your hoses around the BPV.

Is it actually going into vacuum and boost ?

anyone?? what the hell is it? it sounds like an exhaust leak...thats what ive been saying. But ive also read posts that say wastegate flutter can sound like that. Someone with more experience has to have some kind of idea based on the video......there is NO power loss. I have a friend with a stock 06wrx and mine feels way quicker than his......and it feels way quicker than it was before the tbe and flash to stage 2.....so it must be normal right???? or is it a small exhaust leak? I can put my hand over the tailpipe and can't locate any leak. Here's a vid just revving
