Violent shaking when i reach 4,000 rpm's.

hey guys,
I've been having engine problems lately on my 02 WRX, when i reach 4,000 rpm's the entire car shakes very violently...any idea what this could be?? Also, when my boost reaches .05 there is a very high pitched whistling noise i have never heard before. if anyone knows what these problems could be please let me know ASAP. Thanks!!-Colin

Any more info? Does it still boost fully?? Does it still idle smooth?? have you checked for a leak in the vac / boost lines??

02 WRX.. "It's fun when it runs.. Problem is that it hardly ever does..."

it idles smoothly, and it fully boosts. and sometimes i will let off the gas to reduce the shaking (do this for 2-3 seconds) and then hit the gas again and it will go past 4,000 without shaking. and i havent checked for leaks.

This is probaly not the problems but have you checked your rims? dents, mud buildup? Otherwise I think Matt might be on to something. Good Luck!

when you car shakes does continue to accelerate or does it cough and buck and backfire? If the high pitched whistling sound sounds like a squirrel getting its balls chopped off its your bpv gasket or I have also heard of that being a bad up pipe gasket, but I can speak from experience with the bad bpv gasket since I had mine on and off a million times and it will whistle like that in any sort of boost.
