There's a bird in my trunk?

I have an 07 wrx and drive it everyday here in the freezing cold Utah mountains. I have noticed lately that there is this sqeeking sound coming from the rear of my vehicle. I think it is suspension related because it chirps when i hit bumps in the road. any idea what it could be? Thanks for the help!

Sounds like a squeaky strut. Hopefully you didn't blow it out already.

It could also be that the spare tire wingnut has worked itself loose just a bit, and allows the tire to shift slightly when jolted.

It just dawned on me this past weekend that adjusting the rubber hangers on the exhaust may help (that is if the exhaust has "shifted" a bit).

We had a week of rain in So. CA, and my exhaust started rattling, and sometimes squeaking (but only upon cold startups). I adjusted some of the rubber hangers and the rattle/squeak has subsided.

Good Luck!

I had this same exact problem on my '06. Whenever i would hit a dip or pothole mainly on the rear driver side, there was a loud chirp that would come from the rear (sounded like the suspension.) I took it in to the dealership to have them look at it and also get a oil change & tire rotation. They claimed they couldn't hear it, even though i KNOW it was doing it on my drive there. So i took one of the tech's out for a drive in it, and sure enough the sound was gone! I haven't heard it in over 6 months now so i'm not sure what the problem was.

Good luck on figuring this one out! If you do, definitely let me know as i'm still curious as to what was causing the noise.

i know this threads a little old, but i've had the same issues. ice between the rear windshield and trunk sounds like something breaking whenever it shifts around, but it's no big deal, ice melts.....

the sqeaking from the back is probably bushings like ih8pvmnt said. happened to me whenever i drove on dusty offroad conditions. just get under there and spray some lube on all the bushings, it goes away immidiately.
