STi alt on WRX?

My alt went. Im getting an STi alt. its 90 amp opposed to 80. everything else looks the same besides the STi one is slightly larger case. Anyone do this before? The Sti alt is 75 bucks cheaper and higher amps... oh yeah its an 04 WRX

When in doubt call the dealer for the 2 parts in question and ask for the part #'s. If they are the same #, they are identical.

Or go on http://www.subarugenuineparts.com/ to locate the part #'s

that tells me nothing... WRX, STi, and forester na are all diff part numbers... doesnt mean it wont work...

for future reference, all Subaru alternators from I believe 96+ to at least 2007 (I don't really follow newer models) use the same alternator casing its just the internals that are slightly different

Fitment and having the correct part are 2 entirely different beasts. Specifically on an electrical part.

most all alternators work the same... the only real difference is the amperage output... that doesn't matter.. higher amps are usually better. also some of the alternators have posts that are clocked differently for the positive cable... im sure they will still work though.
