problem

i have an 02 wrx w/ tbe, pully's, headers, and Cobb ap v 2,and stg 2 map, i was going to work the other morning crusin 5th gear ,down shiffted to 4th to pass somebody and my car was running like it was about to run out of gas, you know like cutting off and stuff, and then a really loud back fire puff of black smoke and then it was running normal again but the cel started flashing ,so i put it in N and rolled to a stop and pulled over and sat there for a second or 2 and as soon as i put it in gear started to take off the cel went off. so i was wondering if anybody has had this problem or what it might be. Oh and the car just rolled over 100k and i am good about maintenance. apperciate the help or input.

thx

If you're running catless you probably just overboosted. Is the cobb map one straight from their website? The OTS maps have been known to cause a spike under their rich condition.

You should probably get an internet tune or have the car just tuned by a pro in general. It helps with those kinds of issues. You also might want to look into a 3port boost control solenoid. See if it continues when under WOT.

when was the last time you changed your plugs and fuel filter?? its always best to get a protune, those maps that come with the cobb are not that great of maps there just maps to get you going, i would save for a better tune. its well worth the money

Wow im shocked the CEL didn't say on, I figure you'd get at least 1 misfire code. I'm glad you found the problem, how does it ride now?
