I'm having trouble with my power steering on my 2004 WRX.
Symptoms:
1. power steering pump locks up and results in belt squeal. PS pulley stops turning. Sometimes on start, sometimes when letting OFF the throttle, sometimes when turn hard to either side.
2. Power steering sometimes stops working without the belt squeal. Usually at slower speeds and when cold.
3. Whining power steering pump.
Attempted Solutiions Already Done:
1. Replaced o-ring on zirc fitting at pump. No change.
2. Flushed fluid. No change.
3. Replaced power steering pump. Fixed the whining, but both other problems still exist.
I do not see foaming or bubbles. Are there other o-rings elsewhere that I may need to replace? Could the seals in the steering rack be shot? The only problems I've found on the internet were resolved with the o-ring change and/or fluid flush.
Thanks!
