Alright guys just recently took a trip and about halfway down there checked the oil to found out it was bone dry. I started hearing a noise that resembles a knock but can't seem to determine if that's what it is and it's driving me crazy.
Car has lost no power and drives just as good as when I bought it and I had no problems making the 700 mile trip back whatsoever. It doesn't make the noise at an idle but you can hear it kick in at about 3k rpms
CEL is on because of a cylinder misfire
I have a couple videos for yins to check out
Thanks for all your help it's appreciated
Sounds like marbles over 3k RPM thats rod knock, I just had a complete engine build done on my 13 for the same issue. Only place I could hear it was when I was coming off the throttle from over 3,000 RPM. In your 1st video I hear it at 9 seconds and in your 2nd video it definitely sounds like something is loose or knocking around 3k RPM. I cant hear it in your 3rd video but honestly I wouldn't keep driving it around in that shape. if you think its knocking get it on a flatbed and take it to your local tuner.
Best case they tighten down a piece of trim or heat shield, worst case its motor time.
I made it back a couple days ago with no problem that's why I'm kinda questioning it. Talked to my mechanic he can't get me in until Friday to even look at it. He's saying I could've partially spun it if that's what it is that's why there was no immediate effects but idk.
I want to think its just something rattling in my exhaust because I'm not 100 percent its a knock but given the circumstances I of course gotta think the worst
It's almost loud enough to be rod knock, take it from someone who just had to build their motor (long story). You will know what a WELL spun rod bearing knock sounds like when it happens (you WILL hear it at idle, at 1500rpm it will make you cry..and that's where I stopped). Partially spun rod bearings may knock still, but not usually at idle and more so in the powerband. If you noticed the knock is loudest when the turbo makes full efficiency (3k-4500rpm) so possible causes are rod knock due to high pressures above idle, or valvetrain rattle (rpm dependent sometimes).
Seriously stop driving it and get it fixed ASAP!!!
P.S. I just dropped 10k on my bugeye rebuild. Granted I did a 2.2l stroker build (almost same price as factory replacement), needed ned heads (GSC), ALL vac lines, rear 02, 5MT harness (some owners never cease to amaze me), and ACC belt tension pulley.
