peak boost too high?

I Have A Bone Stock 09 Subaru Wrx, And Was Wondering How Much Boost Spike Is To Much. My Boost Spikes To 16 Psi Then Drops To A Stead 13.5 Psi. I Was Told By A Local Shop That The 16 Psi Was To High. I Am Getting Fuel Cut Out At About 4200rpm. Thats When I Usually Get A Quick 16 Psi Spike Then A Hesitation. Does That Seem To High?

Sorry about the caps, new phone trying to figure out how to use it.

Actually I hit 16 spike today on my way home! Interested to see what's said

Typically a bone stock wrx psi factory rating is 14.2 psi so for a stock tune that's probably a little high. They usually say +/- 1 psi.
Nathan hit 16 because he is tuned at stage 1 which the tune is for about 16 so he is right there with his boost.

You think something is wrong? The guage hits 16 psi so fast you can barely see it because it changes right away. Would would you think is wrong? Oh I forgot to mention, previous owner put a k&n air filter in the stock air box. Would that matter?

Possibly. The maf sensors on the 08+ are pretty sensitive. I'd get rid of it and get a stock air filter IMO.

This has to go ASAP! Any mod to the intake on an 08+ is gonna cause problems.

What kinda boost should you expect from stage 2

arewmors 11-02-2013 06:20 PM

Ok guys I just ran to the store to grab a couple things. It was 47 degrees out and raining. I opened her up a couple times and never hit 16psi peak boost. The peak I got was 15 psi then it was steady at 13.5 psi. I did get hesitation though. And it was at 10 psi when It happened. So I doubt it is fuel cutout. Would hesitation be from just the cold weather?

Quick question about boost....... I just bought a 2007 WRX and the only Mods I know of is a HKS exhaust (Just From Axle back, not full system) and a stock intake with stock filter. The issue Im seeing and Im not sure it even isa issue but Ive never had a turbo'ed car. It seems when your pushing higher RPMs Maybe between 3-5000 and genrally in 2-4 gear Ive notice that while holding the gas pedal in one postion that my boost varies up and down with no variation to the pedal. The pressure just goes up and down up and down, should it not be steady to a certain extent? Only variying when you apply more gas or less gas pedal pressure??? Please help Ive had the car a week and it concerns me. I cant find a thread pertaining to this issue, thanks in advance...
