PCV valve change = preventative maintenance?

I've read a little about it, but I'm not really convinced it's absolutely necessary. How many of you have changed your PCV valve? Should I change mine during my 90k maintenance?

I changed mine out at 60K

For a $20 piece of mind.... Don't see why not.

It's one of those parts (If it took a dump, it's already done it's damage).

It seems like it's one of those pieces that very rarely fails, kind of like a fuel filter. Half the people seem to change it regularly or semi-regularly, and the other half aren't the least bit concerned about it. You're right though, since it is so inexpensive and easy to find, I might as well do it.

Any suggestions for other services I should perform that aren't included in the Subaru recommended maintenance? This is actually the first time I've ever heard about this one.

I recommend replacing the car every 60k miles to reduce potential issues.

FWIW.... People usually change their gear oil more often than 30K (I don't see a problem with this either)<-- This goes for Auto's too.

OIL<-- 3K-3500 regardless of type of oil (but you already knew this).

Radiator flush is a biggie most ppl let be for 3-4 years (I do this every 1.5 yrs)

You do all this already. You probably just overlooked it.

wtfomgroflmaobbq!

I've noticed my coolant seems to get fairly dirty fairly quickly. I might bump those change intervals up to every 15k along with my trans fluid instead of every 30k.

I've replaced my PCV twice, don't remember what my mileage was the first time, but did it again at 183K. Here's the deal, by the time you get it out to shake it and see if it's gummed up you might as well stick a new one in. If you have owned the car since new and replaced the oil like a good boy, it's probably fine. I believe they accumulate gunk through abuse and neglect, the former of which my car has endured a lot of. Changing coolant and PS fluid more frequently than 30K seems excessive, as does gear oil and ATF if you have a slushbox.
