parking lights and side marker lights stay on??

Just got an 2002 wrx wagon and the parking lights and side marker lights front and back wont turn off? I have turned every switch and don't know where to start to diagnose problem? any ideas?

try the switch on the center of the top of the steering column. That switch got me for a awhile the first time I detailed my car.

ya the switch in the middle of the steering column will take care of it.. i freaked out the first time i noticed my lights were staying on when i left the car... oh btw. does anyone know the real purpose of that feature?

Why would such a brilliant car company incorporate such a useless feature? I pulled the fuse for the marker lights because I thought I had a more serious problem. Luckily, these forums save people like myself from taking apart cars for no reason. Thanks to everyone that mentioned the switch!

that 'feature' is most likely meant for the driving etiquette of people who live in Japan...they use parking/hazard lights on a regular basis when stopping on the side of the road or temporarily double parking, to name just 2 examples (same goes for Korea).

I agree it doesn't make much sense for the US because it is against the law to do such things, but deleting it at the factory probably costs more money than it is worth.
