Adjusted the waste gate an tried to adjust over boosting from setting the preload down a bit. Didn't work and caused more problems over boosting. I am now having problems with switching maps on Cobbs AP. If i switch from eco map to stage 2 map still having over boosting problems. Not sure what would fix this leaning towards BCS failing or waste gate actuator arm. I am having the waste gate arm opening at 8psi and fully open at 15 psi.
Turbo back exhaust
BOV
Stock air box
Put new vacumm lines from t connector to turbo/ wastegate/ boost solenoid
Restictor pill in vac line to turbo.
Cobb Acessport
This problem started ever since I adjusted the wastegate. But i got some other advice in that it is set back to the right spot. But still over boosting like crazy, got to baby the throttle to keep the boost down.
When does the over boosting happen? Also does that BOV recirculate or vent to atmosphere?
02-05 have a tendency to overboost. When you suddenly drop a gear and go WOT is usually the time it happens the most. You should be easing into a WOT pull.
EWG can/will help with the issue as well as getting a 3 port EBCS and a tune to go with it.
Everything was fine until i started to mess with the wastegate actator and i set it back to where it was and even pressure tested it. Even when I set the ecu to min boost with the tuner it still over boost.
Boost fluctuation in mid throttle. Now it just over boost no matter what map i run on my acessport.... I threw a MBC on it and stopped over boosting, but when i plug back in the SBC it acts up again.
Did not have this problem before the wastegate acuator arm was messed with. I did do all the mods to this. The pill is in the same position, no leaks, and i left that vac line alone with the pill in it. IS the wastegate supposed to still build boost after its fully opened when i tested it with pressure it begins to open at 8psi and fully open at 15psi and still builds pressure.
What are you calling over boosting? How long does it stay there for? What rpm ranges?
If you extend the actuator arm then it should open sooner an build boost slower/lower. If you shorten the actuator arm it should hold closed longer an cause boost to be higher sooner.
Also take a log of it happening and upload it so we can see it. Make sure throttle position is in there as well as target boost and boost correction.
Also Cobb will check your log if you mail it to them an they can usually tell you if there is a issue. But if you tell them you f'd with the actuator they are going to tell you to put it back to where it was. As there is no reason to mess with it unless there is an issue.
Again what are you calling fuel cut? You need to log these events with your AP and log a 3rd gear pull at WOT. Upload for us to view. As much as I want to help you are not answering the questions needed to get this problem resolved.
I will try to log it, and also i cannot WOT I'm afraid my turbo might not be able to handle the boost that it will go to max cause im not sure, Ill try to get a log of being on the throttle, I'm on Economy map with Cobbs AP and its supposed to cause minimum wastegate pressure and still exceeds more than 18psi.
Alright well I fixed it. Didn't put the wastegate arm back correctly on the wastegate thought it was supposed to go half over it and then pulled onto it. For stock which I'm assuming that fixed my problem it is supposed to just slide on directly on top.
glad you got it sorted out! and thankyou for posting your solution and not just letting the thread die
