Oil Filter Help!!

I changed my oil on my Subie for the first time yesterday and went up to O'Reilly's and purchaced 5 quarts of Mobil 1 Full Syn and a Wix oil filter. When removing the OEM filter I noticed that the Wix was noticably smaller. I called up O'Reilly's and made sure it was the correct part number for the correct car and it was. I've driven around 40 or so miles no cel's no nothing. Everything seems to be fine. Is this normal?(Filter's varying in size?) Do I have anything to worry about?

Next time I'll just get the OEM filter from subie. Thanks for the help.

I'm clueless.

It's very common for OEM filter to be different size from the afternmarket one. I'm not sure how the K&N compares in size but I am gonna go get one. The HP-1004 is what I've come up with to fit the WRX. Keep in mind the aftermarket filter is designed to fit as many vehicles as possible to make them cheaper to produce.

I wanted a K and N also but they didn't have any in stock. So, I'll use the K&N or the OEM.

I'm clueless.
