Unhappy Need help with accessport, radiator problem

Hey guys, I'm such a noobie dumb a#@ when it comes to this stuff. I bought this cobb ap from this guy and installed without updating the firmware or maps. The map was meant for 06's but my car is an 07. I installed the a map and like a dumb a@# again, I installed the fp18g 91 oct. map when my car just has a catback exhaust. After that, I tried to start the car and it was just struggling for a few moments to start. CEL came on and I smell radiator fluid now. I checked under the hood and found some radiator fluid splash. I was wondering if anyone knows what I just did? I used the ap to check the cel code but it said that there was no code. As the ap was trying to install and I kept the car in test mode, did I have the radiator run for too long and that's why it has fluid splash? Did I do any damage to the car because of me using the wrong map? Please help me! Thanks.

Uninstall the map with the AP. Go online and get the updates. Where is the splash coming from ? From the radiator or from a hose ? Did you get the install instructions w/the AP ? 06, 07... same $hit. The very first start will not always work.... try it for 2 seconds, then turn the key back and try it again, it should work (of course after you get the updates and install the correct map).

first thing u need to do is put the stock map back on, hopefully u saved it on to your AP. if that fluid splash is from the overflow it should be ok. besides u need a DP to flash stage 2 anyways.

So I went back to the stock map. Went back into the house and tried to get the update. The update was taking forever. It didn't get to update because I canceled. The next day I went and reinstalled the ap with the correct map that I could use and the cel came on. Just like the first time I flashed the ecu, the cel came back on. Is that normal?

yeah, I got to reflash it back to stock. I don't have a dp, so I was just trying to run stage 1. Doesn't really make that big of a difference from stock, and I was checking for leaks from the radiator but nothing. Should I be concerned even if it was just some overflow?

It should make somewhat of a difference, smoother through all RPM ranges, a little more power, etc...etc....

I wouldn't worry about it. Radiator still full ? overflow have water in it ? Call COBB and ask them what updates you need.

What code did the AP give you on the CEL ??

I was scanning the cel. The ap said "no codes". That's weird. The car runs fine and all but why would it throw a cel. You know, before this started, I always had this problem with the cel. Ever since around 2000 miles of the cars life I've been getting cel's. I brought the car back to the dealer and they swapped the injectors because I kept getting misfires. But before we could've narrowed down why I kept getting cels, I installed the ap. When I installed the ap, the car was kind of struggling to start. That happened the two times I installed the ap. Do you guys think it would be because of that the reason I'm getting a cel is because my misfire problem which was never solved yet? Or is that I was just sold a piece of crap ap and car?

I know you don't have a piece of crap, just maybe the crappy timelines you are in . Get the main issue fixed then deal with the AP issues. Like baller said, are you sure it was uninstalled from the car before you ? Is it a V1 or V2 AP ??

Yeah, it was uninstalled from the previous car. I don't think I would be able to install it unless it was unmarried right? Or am I wrong?

You are right about that. It stores the VIN or something.

Well guys, thanks for all the help I just uninstalled the ap and the cel went away. I think the problem was that I uploaded an 06 map when my car is an 07. Maybe I need to upgrade the firmware just like you guys said but the dang thing either doesn't download because it's a dongle v.1.0.0 or something else. On the ap that I have, it doesn't list the vehicle that I have though. Just 04-06 sti and other 06 subaru's. I also have another problem with my car but I'll start another thread for that.

If you goe to Cobbs website it has step by step instructions for loading the new firmware and all that for the different versions (which will suck for me becuase Im so far behind). And it shouldnt matter cause the 06 and 07 are the same.
