is my turbo about too!!!

well i just recently put on my up and about later my turbo or something makes a not so good noise when i hit woooot sounds like a whistle being blowin or something close...and yes i know i will hear my turbo when i put the up on but no its not that...car has 112K could my turbo be getting ready to take a shit on me....friend said it could be a boost leak but i dont know

no i have not cause i dont know how...how do i check for boost leak and if it was would it make that kind of noise

this is gona sound weird but does it make a "ttssssssssss" sound or a "sssshhhhhttt" sound? lol/ if its the 1st one than thats ## turbo, but if its the second you have an exhaust leak. my wrx makes the 2nd sound and i found out cause im missing the dp gasket. did you replace the gasket when u did the install??

ok i already know i have a small exhaust leak at my cbe but it was making this noise im hearing till the up went on and no i didnt not replace the gasket for the dp and wont i have heard the noise right then??

You should of replaced both your UP and DP gaskets with the OEM-style gaskets.

Willing to bet it's a pre turbo leak.

have you checked for leaks?

One easy way to tell if your UP or DP are leaking at the mating flanges is to see if you have any black exhaust carbon coming out at the flanges where the gasket is at.

Or pressureize the system.

I had the same sound on my '03 wrx wagon anddd I got the news that my turbo was dead. Does the sound happen when you hit the gas, gets louder the higher the RPMs go and goes away when you let off the accelerator? if so, it's the turbo. I thought it was an UP leak but unfortunately it wasn't . good luck to you though.
