Hey everyone, Just wanted to start by saying this is my first post here i have enjoyed reading these forums for a while now but now i seek your expert advice. I'm sorry if this has been asked before but , Ive owned my 03 WRX for not quite 2 months now it had the factory boost gauge (which i know is known to be inaccurate) when i bought the car. Ive noticed that it never goes past .04 to .05 mpas no matter what gear i am in. Ive looked/ listened for leaks things seem to be fine. Ive tried reseting the ecu. I'm not sure if the car is as fast as it should be cause Ive never driven another wrx but i know its alot faster then my last car ha ha. I'm new to turbos so i really dont know what i should be doing exactly but If anyone has any tips or ideas i really want to avoid taking it to the dealer cause there, well , a dealership and i dont have alot of extra cash. Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Seems low to me. In 1st and 2nd you should be hitting 7-8 psi, in 3rd-5th you should be coming closer to 13.5-14 psi. Where'd you buy the car?
Any other mods?
I bought the car at one of the local dealerships (belknap subaru). I know the person who owned it before me had a cat back and up pipe and he also removed the intake silencer and put a sti drop in filter but every things back to stock except the silencer.
I wouldn't say i get pinned to my seat i mean the car seems pretty fast i dont know about the claimed 0-60 in 5.4sec. i test drove a 06 and id say it seemed a little faster but it has a diff motor so who knows. The car seems to be pretty fast on the highway acceleration to so maybe its just the gauge but i drove my Friends 97 maxima and i was kinda thinking damn this thing almost seems faster then my wrx but it could be all in my head.
Hey anyone think that it is posible that the prev owner may have had a MBC taken the pill off and not put it back on when he took the MBC off and that would cause my problem? cause ive red a few threads about this pill and i dont think i have one..
Where is the boost solenoid? How would i go about checking to make sure its good?.. Sorry i dont know anything about turbos really. Is there a good place to find this kind of information cause i doubt the owners Manuel will say..i dont want to be a pain with all these silly questions...
No worries man....the boost syliniod is on the passenager side...look at the turbo and the tubes coming off of it and follow them to the top left side of the passenager side of the car that is where the boost syliniod is....the only real way you can see if things are good to go is to make sure everything is still hooked up to it...you should have a tube coming from the manifold to the rear of the syliniod and then the front should have the lines from the turbo going to it.
