Question Lost Power???

Year: 2005 WRX
Miles: 56k
Mods: exhaust

Issue: I was pulling out of a gas station today and I barely put my foot in it and I heard like a loud psssht noise and after that it sounded like I have an exhaust leak. It lost all of its power, I feel like I'm pulling the world behind me. I am completely lost. Mainly cause I'm a complete noob to these types of cars.

Post turbo leaks wouldn't cause that much loss of hp. You'll have to do a pre turbo leak test to probably fix your issue. Could be the elbow silicon pipe under the TMIC or various other things that would lead to a boost leak.

Was the pssshhhh from under the hood though, if it's not starting or running super rough, it could be intake/inter cooler piping.
That happened to me on my old gsx.
I was so stumped and when I realized what it was and didn't cost me a dime, I was extremely relieved.
Pop the hood and take a glance around your intake and intercooler.

Its running pretty rough. Plus it sounds like there is a bad exhaust leak. I not to mechaniclly inclined so I did my best to look around at hoses and piping but I didnt see any issues. I checked the tail pipe while it was running and it seemed like there was barely anything coming out.

^Interesting. Might need to take the exhaust off and check the CAT. Or both CATs

So you took the TMIC off and inspected it then reconnected it to make sure there aren't any leaks on those connections?

Sounds like he just looked around Paul. Yeah, its starting to sound like his turbo just ate his UP CAT.

Dont think you sound as if this is a task for you, its not hard to sneak a peak but , do note that the IC is a part that takes a little fenegeling to make fit back in correctly.
If you dont feel like that inspection is something you can do, take it to any garage and they can peak at it for you.
If its your turbo though....uggghhhh... take it on in to a Subaru dealer or a tuner to fix it.

Let us know what ya find out......GL

You still have/had the stock/factory up pipe? Its possible that the cat took a crap in the up pipe and your turbo ate it. Time for a new turbo; be it stock or an upgraded one probably.
