jerky driving/acceleration
ok so i bought my 03 wrx like a month ago and i found out it has some modifications already done to it.. upgraded tmic... 16g evo III turbo... 565 pink injectors.. fuel pump.. and i just put an invidia up pipe on it... stock tbe and the car is jerky.. when i accelerate and hit 2 grand the car jerks really really bad like it not getting fuel or somthing...idk.... and it does that in all gears.. but if i push the gas to the floor it will accelerate really slow with a little bit of jerking and then the turbo will boost and it will run ok.. but only at like 5 grand and above... i read that the stock intake is good for like 400 hp so i didnt think it was that.. i have a cold air intake on the way anyways... but if any one had this problem or any clue what it might be please let me know thanks

You have the stock TBE on the car? Thats not a great idea in the least bit, its EXTREMELY restrictive, arguably the most restrictive piece on the car. What about a tune? Do you know if it has one? It could possibly be a tuning issue.

yea right now it still has a stock tbe.. im working on that lol im gettin these prob next month..

just gotta wait to get paid the army only pays every two weeks.... and its not much lol.. but any ways about a tune i have no clue if it has one.. i was thinking of getting the cobb ap... just didnt get there yet...

Oh, trust me I know how great the army pay isnt, trust me. 9 years later, still wishing it paid more. The TBE you got picked isnt bad. The only small issue you could run into is the piece in the middle; the "divorced" wastegate section. IT doesnt always fit with some turbos, all you would have to do is trim or grind it down some. Other than that you should be alrite, after that and some sort of tune or engine management.

more on my problem... if i stomp on the gas the car doesnt jerk much.. like almost not at all.. any one think it could be the fuel system?? and at high rpm the car is fine the turbo boosts good and everthing... SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!! i cant even drive on the high way i have to do under 40 in 5th or over 90 wtf!!

i would get a tbe and tune and go from there, i know having a stock dp on an 03 with mods makes the car feel jerky and slow, because i ran my car like that for a couple days to pass smog.

ok thanks

what kind of tune do you have on there? Nobody I know of makes an off the shelf tune for 565cc injectors and a stock TBE. Did you tune it yourself? Does it have a custom Tune? If that's a "no" and a "no", then that's your problem. TUNE YOUR CAR!

sivart08 03-16-2010 08:20 PM

i have no clue if its tuned or not i just got the car and the dealership didnt know it had anything even done to it.. soo yea i need to get it tuned.. im gonna do that right after i get the tbe done..

Do it quick, you're killing it.

sivart08 03-18-2010 07:14 PM

i should of mentioned this earlier but i have a front o2 sensor that doesnt work so i have a check engine light one..

ratfink 03-18-2010 10:27 PM

WTF dude? Why would you ask for possible fixes when you have a bad sensor that directly effects drivability? Replace your sensor before any tune.

sivart08 03-19-2010 09:34 AM

lol idk.. i have a bunch of people tell me that you dont need it... so i didnt bother.. but i guess ill fix that first

mosc 03-19-2010 10:59 AM

You don't need the front O2 sensor, but you need the COMPUTER to think your front O2 sensor is working. Does that help explain?

sivart08 03-19-2010 12:13 PM

o ok thanks.
