Front Diff dipstick question

Ok, so i have a small slow leak from my front differential. and i noticed today when i pulled out the dipstick, that there is no marks for full and low... I'm not sure if there is suppoed to be, but i would imagine so. The stick almost looks broken off at the end. There is a blue ring on it and about 2 inches maybe a little bit more and then it just ends. is this normal???

The 5MT uses the same fluid for the front diff and the trans/gear

ok... that helps somewhat, do you know if the dipstick is supposed to have an F or L ? or some kind of marking?

Look it up in your manual. It's been a while since I've messed with a 5mt on your car.

Don't quote me... but close to 3.7~ quarts.

Take a picture and post it here. If you're saying it's only about 2" below the plastic joint thing it sounds about right. I could always go measure mine, they probably haven't changed much since 02.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I need some help. So I just changed the oil in my 03 wrx, and after filling it it with 3.7 qt it does not register on the dipstick at all. I checked the transmission number and it matches the tag on the car, so I am lost.

Going by what my 07 looks like the dipstick in the photo looks more like the oil dipstick and it also looks a bit short like its broken. The transmission dipstick on a wrx usually has a bare metal handle with just a ring on the end. Is your wrx an automatic maybe? If it is then disregard everything I just said.

this is my 4EAT dipstick, went and took some pics for ya.

seems you have the same stick that is in my 4EAT. no F or E marks, just 2 lines about 1/4 inch apart.
dont know if the 5MT sticks are the same or maybe you have the wrong stick. are u a recent new owner of the car?

The transmission dip stick sits right behind the TMIC. It should have a mark to tell you if it's F or L.
