flex pipe and turbo

today i rebuilt my turbo and if u grab the end of the shaft there is play side to side maybe 1/16''-1/8'' none in and out. im thinking this is ok? the seals should heat up and expand? or is the shaft bad and needs to be replaced or regrooved two the next seal size? now when i removed the turbo there is a flex up pipe i can move the flex pipe probably 3/4'' in all direction is this right? i know they are flex but damn didnt know they really moved. i didnt even look but how hard is to do uppipe without removing the manifold?

Taking the uppipe out with removing the headers makes things very hard.

To me that turbo sounds fried.
