Engine burp/growl between shifts
2010 WRX sedan, 1,635 miles. All stock.
This could be paranoia, but it seems like when I up- shift in the 3,000 - 4,000 rpm range I hear a burp or growl noise (like a more faint rev). The noise seems to be coming from the motor, and isn't as loud as the rev leading up to the shift. The noise happens while the clutch is in, as I'm up-shifting, not giving any throttle.
I'm thinking this is probably normal, because it's done it since I bought the car new. Just wanted to see if anyone else hears this sound and maybe what it's called.
I believe this is normal. I have noticed this on my 09 WRX as well. Especially if you are not on it very hard but you let the revs build. When you shift the tac will jump up about 500 RPM.
I believe this is due to the boost pressure being dumped back into the air intake box or extra fuel the ECU has dumped.
Congrats on a nice ride.....!Thumbs Up
Hey, by the way...get out there and play in that snow you guys just got!!!!:D
As long as you don't have the Dunlop SP 01's...you will go no where in those!!
Dunlop Winter Sport 3D is a good choice if you look for some winters!
