As of right now, I do not know if it's magnetic or not. I had just figured they all were. I plan on dropping and filling the fluid this weekend, though. Weighing the pros and cons of rebuild vs throwing an 04 trans in when the time comes anyway. Hopefully my current one is just a noisey bugger and I have a while before I'm forced to choose.

Can you verify what brand you run?

obviously in the shop i was in we ran straight cheap fluid for any type of Diff/MT. i don't get how people put crap fluid in their vehicles and wonder why stuff burns out so quick

IMHO the fluid your running is probably just old and thinned over time. Thin fluid causes internal moving parts to collide harder as there is less barrier created by the oil. Change it up and let us know how you made out.

I use redline light weight shockproof. I know a lot of people say to use it in a cocktail and not run it straight but, it works good for me.
