drill out break bolt

i was putting my rear left brake on when one of the two bolts that hold it on broke, i was wondering if i can just drill it out, or is their some other way.

We use screw extractor bits in the field for stripped screws that would probably work if you tapped the bolt a bit. The ones I've used were made by greenlee, but that's for electrical work. In the mechanical world, there might be a much more effective bit or tool.

If you are looking at screw extractors there are so many different kinds. Check out brown tools or The Yard. They offer used tools also and great deals, thats what we use in the aviation side.

If you are talking about the caliper slide bolts, it's just as easy to pull the whole thing out and replace them.

thanks but i got lazy and took it to the shop. they drilled it out and helicoiled it. done and done
