Boost leak detected. It was the common 'throttle body to TMIC coupling' issue. Problem is now resolved and hopefully everything is put back together properly and stays that way.
If you are turning up boost on the stock hose, I noticed on mine (08) after going above 17psi, the hose would come off seemingly regardless of how tight I have it.
When I went to a bigger turbo (vf39) I reused the hose and noticed two black soft silicone skirts on the ends of the harder silicone hose. Basically the softer silicone slides right off the throttle body for me.
My solution was to remove the soft skirts and only use the harder silicone hose clamped down tight. Works like a charm, NEVER popped the hose off after that at 19+ psi.
