well i have noticed that every time i check the oil my dipstick is dry so i panic and take my other car to the store and get oil and when i drain it to see how much is in there there is 4.5q in there which is normal how come my dip stick is dry i check it the way the manual says to but nothing I have changed my oil 3 times prematurely has any one else had this problem????
?? Are you sure it's fully inserted. (no smartass comments) and that your on a flat surface.. I will try to measure mine to see if yours is the correct length, but my time is rough so it might take some time..

thanks for the help and yes i made sure to click it down and my drive way is level. its really frustrating to not be able to check my oil i think im going to take it to a dealer or see if my teachers can help i go to a automotive school but i just wanted to see if anyone else has had this problem i feel like a dumba** for this post but want to get some feed back thanks
Seems like its a pretty basic way to measure your oil so i would sya if its dry you need more oil. even if you think you put enough in see how much you have to add to get it to register on the stick.

Almost clean wrx...
OK measured mine and it is 18 3/4 inches long from the end of the plastic piece(where you see the dipstick metal) to the tip that goes in.
Wow, imperial units, I would think Canada uses metric
Also make sure you let the car sit for a minute after shutting it off so you can let the oil drip back into the pan. Still shouldn't be bone dry though.
