Damn P0128

So I keep getting warning lights that are signs of limp mode. Although the car still performs normal IMHO. Last night I checked the code on my AP and got P0128, which relates to coolant and thermostat.
My cruise will blink and my cel is on along with my traction control light.
This only seems to happen when it is wet out (raining or snow is melted making wet roads).
This is the third time this has happened to me this year, but first time since owning my AP. It cleared without a problem, but I'm sure it will be back.

At first I thought it was a wet MAF before I could pull the code. Now I'm maybe thinking my thermostat is stuck open or something.
Anyone else have this issue?

Garage
3 possible causes. Stuck/sticking open thermostat. Wrong coolant to water mixture . Bad fan circuit. The fan should not stay on more than 3 consecutive minutes at a time.

I'm guessing it's the thermostat. I haven't added anything in right months.

Have you figured out what it is? I have a 2011 wrx premium with 34,000 miles and I have the same code. The car doesn't overheat, and if I'm understanding this the thermostat should fail open which means the car would probably not overheat. I'm not low in coolant either... so I'm guessing it's the thermostat

Also, it all started after i washed my car which makes me think it might be a short on the ECT.

Glad you asked. I have since topped my fluids and changed my intake.
Did them both on the same weekend, so not sure which fixed it.

Just topped with water
And put on a K&N typhoon short ram

If you topped with water that might have done the trick... if your thermostat was stuck open the coolant might have never got hot enough for regular engine temps, however water will pretty much circulate all the time at higher temperature. I really hope you've found a permant fix. I have changed my coolant but im betting it is the thermostat. Either way I'm going stage two in the future and will replace the thermostat while at it
