crunch on startup 09wrx

I have a 2009 wrx sedan. heres what happens. i start my car, shift into first gear, and then as im dropping my clutch i there is a loud crunch. This only happens when i start my car and shift into first gear. it sounds like its coming from the front driver side but sometimes it sounds like the front passenger side. I can also feel the vibration in the pedal. When the crunch happens the car stutters slightly. When i let the car idle for a while before i go the sound isnt as loud but is still there in the same fashion. The only time this happens is the first time i shift into first gear after i start my car.

Any ideas other than bringing it into the shop and getting it fixed cause i did that and they spent a few hours looking at it and couldnt find the problem. I even drove around with the guy and pinpointed the noise and he still coundnt find it.

is the crunch like a can crunching? i'm just not sure what kind of sound it is.. and you said it will only do it once when you first start the car?

yeah but heavier. for a while i thought i was kicking up some rocks when i started but then it started happening everywhere and every time. sounds like a half shift almost but still heavier and harder if that makes sense.????

I vote for what crazytaxi said. If theres a problem should still be covered under warranty.
