check engine light partially on????

I noticed today when driving home at night that my check engine light appears to be partially on. It looks very dimly illuminated in a green when I have the dash lights turned on. With the lights off there is nothing. Also with the car off and the key in the start position all the dash lights turn on as normal including the check engine light (which is very bright). So this leads me to believe that my check engine light isn't really on but that some of the other dash lights are giving off enough light behind the panel so that it's lighting up the check engine spot slightly. Just wanted to see if my thinking is correct and if anyone had experienced this before. It's not something I've noticed before on my 06 TR that I've had since new. Thanks. Oh, by the way, I have spt cat back, k&n drop in filter, and cobb stage 1 91oct map. I just recently drove threw some bad sand storms followed by rain storms followed by low 30's degree temps. I'm just hoping I didn't suck some sand up or something like that cause I know my hood scope was getting a mouth full

If it were a check engine it would be bright. But to be safe you should pull codes and see

try having the alternator checked or at least the condition of the belt. i have never owned a subaru later than 1995, but it would be common for all the lights that come on before you turn the key to start when the charging system starts to go bad. see if the light glows a loittle more with load, turn on the headlights and heater and whatnot to see

I have the same problem too. I think it's nothing ### my car runs fine and there are no codes.
