Exclamation Check Engine Light

Ok so I just got my 02 wagon Tuesday night.

I had to drive an hour and a half to pick it up -- got there half an hour before close. Anyway, I fill out the papers (no warranty) and drive off.

30 miles down the road the check engine light pops on

Obviously I'm not too pleased. I took it to autozone yesterday after work and the code read -- Camshaft Posistion Sensor.

So I went to the grocery store before heading home to e-mail these guys & the light went out

Just looking for any advice:

If I buy from a dealer in PA, does it have to pass my DE inspection? Cause it has a PA inspection paper (from that dealer -- what kind of corrupt shit is that).

Also, anyone had this code? Fixes? My roommate works at good year and said I should go to Subaru and to expect atleast 5 hours of labor and I should probably change the timing belt while they're in there. Also, how is subaru's level of service: I have owned too maxima's so I'm used to crappy dealers.

hmm

that sounds really fishy to me!!! I would take it back to the dealer and get my money back if i were you. pa probably has some kind of lemon law.

It honestly sounds to me like the dealership probably reset the ECU before they sold the car to you. Thats why the CEL light wasn't on until 30 miles later. VERY FISHY!!!

That and how long has the car been driven with a faulty camshaft sensor. Your valvetrain could already be fuxored, although maybe not if the car seems to run ok. Regardless I would have it fully checked out before buying.
