CEL: Overboost

so i was on I-10 on my way back to houston from san antonio, and there was not really many ppl on the road. i was in 5th and felt like seeing how fast i could go just for shits. well i was crusin at 65 and i took it to 90-95mph then all of a sudden my car jerked and my check engine light came on. when i got back home i got my friend to pull up the code and it said it was overboost. now after i had the stage 2 tune i never got a mbc, a boost guage or any of that. i was just wondern what could i do so that i would be able to drive my car more spirited in 5th geat without it throwing a CEL.

(in other gears i can take it all the way to red line with no problem)

what was the actual code #?

Do you have a tune?

If it went into limp mode because you overboosted then all you need to do is reset the ecu.

rollin on 17's now and they're dirty

the weather is equivalent to the firey pits of hell with maybe 45% humidity. im running no cats at all. not really sure why the code number was. cause right when my friend looked at it he cleared the cel.

Did you stomp on it in 5th? if so you overboosted because you have a really high load on the engine. You should downshift if you want to accelerate quickly.

i agree even with no cats in that kinda temp shouldnt be over boosting but because of the very heavy load its possible maybe you should invest in a boost guage:P i have one just to see when it starts to creep or spike helps with tunning.

5th gear is a strange one when it comes to engine load. I will occassionally overboost in 5th even with the manual boost controller on the external wastegate.

should i invest in a new solenoid, an ewg, or perhaps a new turbo??
it just seems wierd to me that other people can jam all through there gears with no problem, yet i cant even reach 100 without my car goin crazy.

Shouldn't be in 5th at 100 if you are banging through the gears. Even on the poorly geared bugeyes, I shift into 5th at 135 when pushing it. Should have downshifted.

well i asked my friend to help me out and give his input on all this. he said that its still a problem regardless cause he put a 16psi map on my car yet its still spikes at 21 and then drops to 9. he suggested a new solenoid and if that doesnt work to get a mbc. my car drives fine and it holds boost, but apparently its not running as best as it should be. so tomorrow im goin over to my friends house and gona swap solenoids with him. (he broke his 2nd gear so its mia) and see if thats the problem. i just pray to god its nothing major.

Save up and do all three mods, turbo (supporting mods) with the 3 port and ewg if you want, cant go wrong unless you have a mishap like mine.
