cel going, burnt gasket?

I"ve had a cel ever since i got the car from the previous owner. I was thinkig just ### he didn't get the cel fix. Over the past few weeks i could tell that i had an exhaust leak. So when i had new tires installed i took a peak under the car and the gasket behind my hiflow cat on my txs exhaust was fried and look like 1/10th of it was gone. Would that throw a cel since its so close to the sensor? I plan on getting a new gasket soon, but was wondering should i just get that cel fix that sells on ebay for 15 bucks?

The big problem with cel is that you dont know what is really causing it untill you get the code pulled.. i say get the code pulled then go from there.. i dont think a burnt gasket would hurt anything in the turbo back.. if it was your up pipe or header gasket i would be worried..

No the gasket behind the cat wouldn't throw off anything. I don't even think it would really hurt your performance. But you should find out what your ecu is trying to tell you. Just go to autozone and have them find out what your car says.

I'm willing to bet it's the rear O2 sensor CEL. 2040 I think??

The high flow cat will still trigger the CEL.

0240 actually. Either that or 0420, I just had it. Mechanical fix has worked perfectly for 150 miles yet.

i was pulling the 0420 and 0546. Already got them fixed, i just thought the previous owner said he had the cel fix. I did the 2.2k ohm resistor for the 0546 and ordered that ez fix for the 0420 off of ebay. No cel woot
