Question CEL Fix???

Is it possible to make my own cel fix for the rear O2 sensor. It seems like every thread about this says to buy one, but why can't you just make your own? Thanks guys.

Oh yeah if I do have to buy one which is better the mechanical fix or the electrical one?

there is good luck with the mechanical fix on the 04's, seems the ECU figures out that you resistored it and will still set a code..however, with the two nofoulers, it stays off.

here is the link to the do it yourself fix, not that hard, and costs about three dollars at Radio Shack, http://www.dooleyprinting.com/brsc/O2_CEL_FIX.pdf

the mechanical fix is a little more involved in the making, but it involves purchasing two No-foulers from the HELP! section of your local auto parts store, but you need the 18mm ones, like for an old Ford.

take a 1/2" drill bit and ream the hole out in one of them, then take the larger one and screw it into the other one. then simply screw that into the rear O2 sensor bung, and screw the O2 into it.

sometimes, depending on DP maker, you have clearance issues with the floorpan.

that help?

Does everyone who replaces their downpipe with a catless variety run into an O2 sensor problem? Or is it magic?

Hmmm... Is that because the O2 sensor is there to make sure the cats are working and since there aren't any it thinks they're not? What about having just one cat? Does that prevent or merely delay the inevitable CEL?

Interesting fix with the two no-foulers!! I did the resistor fix a few months ago with no problems, I was also able to heat shrink it and fit it inside the factory shielding! I will be trying the no-foulers on a friends EVO VIII tomorrow eve!
