boost jumping??

i know this stuff has been asked before but i searched and couldn't find exactly what i have going on. when driving my 02 wagon from 3rd through 5th my boost jumps from about 9psi to 15 and even somtimes up to 19psi but the rpms stay even strait through so i wouldn't think that it would be a injector or a coil pack. i'm thinking it's somthing with the computer but i don't think it has ever been reflashed as i have never done it but i got it used so i can't be sure. if anybody has any sugestions it would be greatly welcome! and would the dealership reflash it for free? and if not if anybody has done it what dose it cost and did it do anything?

thanks

This is your problem.Get some engine management.Anytime you reduce any restriction in the intake or exhaust path on the WRX's it will require less than stock wastegate duty cycle to hit target boost. This is one of the most common problems........

it's not the plugs as i have changed them and it still dose it.

dumdum it would actualy make that much of a diference with changing the downpipe and upipe? i have seen others do just what i have done and it didn't afect anything like this. although it makes sense to me i just didn't think it would change that much. and no i have no engine management as far as i know but i did get it used.

i geuss i'll save my money up for a cobb ap then. i was looking in the engine management section and found out about a guy that makes tunes and sends emails them to you for $150 this is the site Clark Turner - Tuning Specialist

i geuss what i'm asking is is he any good? i would like to upgrade to a vf39 or a 16g at some point but i have no access to a tuner around here so it's eather something like this guy or a open source tune.

Yes it will make that big of a difference. What is happening is the ECU is using more WGDC than necessary so the boost is overshooting the target and then it will drop it down and bring it back up to try to get it to the target. Can you feel it or is it just that you can see it on the gauge?

The other thing is that you shouldn't be just trying to hammer the throttle in 5th gear. That will load the motor very quickly and it will have a tendency to overboost there as well.

You can get an Open Source map from a couple of tuners for less than the cost of an AP. All you would need is a laptop and a cable. This solution isn't for everyone but it is just as good and costs less than getting an AP.

Why not go for ROMraider/OpenECU tunes? It's cheaper, uses the stock ecu. All you need is a laptop and a $75 cable. Software is free, I'll talk to my tuner and see if he can help you if you want.

Nasioc might have someone selling one. You are looking at a Tactrix 2.0, you only need the 1.0.
