2006 Wrx p0442

Well I've had this problem for while now. My car gets a p0442 it's a small evap leak detected. It only comes on when I'm on the highway for about 30 mins with cruise control set to 60mph+. I already replaced the gas cap. I can drive around town for a month but as soon as I get on the highway and set cruise control light comes on. I drove to ocean city Maryland from lancaster about 160 miles no light but I also didn't use the cruise control on the way back about 20 miles in I used the cruise control 10 miles later and light came on. Does anyone have any suggestions for this code.

Are you still just stage 2?

There's a evap purge control solenoid. If your looking at the engine its on the left side behind the alternator . It is bolted to the front of the intake manifold. I would check it and make sure all the connections are good no broken or loose hoses. You may want to also take a look around your charcoal canister. Its a black box behind the (right?) rear wheel. Check connections on that as well. Im not sayin those are your problems but, they are in the evap system and easy to check.

Will be going up on the lift tonight for a couple minutes to see if I can find any loose or cracked hoses

Did you check the black box underneath the right side rear? The evap box could have a loose hose or be messed up to a certain degree. Otherwise its a electrical gremlin in the system that doesn't like it when you use the cruise control. The purge solenoid could be bad too like Adair said...

Crap, missed that on your OP... sorry about that. Check the hoses like Kirt said..
