Ok so I have and 07 sti...Moded as follows..Intercooler,Full HKS Exahust no Cat stock uppipe,Aem Short Ram,3 Port Cobb Solenoid and Cobb Access Port...I just installed a Greddy RS Bov..Before I had the Greddy setup I had a HKS SSQV Bov installed (Please note My Car was dyno Tuned with everything Noted Minus the Greddy Bov...Current Maps dynoed is as Follows,Econ mode,Vallet mode,13,15,17 and 19 PSI maps as well...I run 19 for race (When applicable)..Again this was all tunned for the Above Setup with the HKS SSQV as the Blowoff..Not the Greddy...The car ran just fine with the HKS...And like a Dumbass found a great deal on the Greddy installed it and sold my HKS..So now my car surges falls on its face and backfires somtimes,I have dialed the Bov n a lil bit and has gotten better it dosent stumbling as much when under heavy RPMS(Well coming out of heavy Rpms but still surges and yea i have had it die a couple times too....My Adjustment Was like this..I adjusted it all the Way out..And then adjusted it down to where the engine didnt surge as much...But I m still having some hunting idle issues and some backfire among de celleration and a few cases of stalling ohhh and it whistles a lil bit...I Think this may be because i need a new Gasket (the old one has been removed and adjust a few times but isnt torn clean thru just thinking that may be the wistling....So should i continue to adjust it down a from the Soft to firmer will this help...Any info will be greatly appreciated....I do plan to get my car Dynoed tuned again I m gonna Run Bigger injectors and High Capcity fuel Pump..I want to obtain as Much Safe HP W/O going internal..and 21 PSI seems to be the max efficancy of the turbo even with bigger injectors..
You shouldn't have a vent to atmosphere BOV unless you have a speed density set up. You are letting metered air escape before it hits the chambers, causing a rich condition between shifts, which is why you are backfiring. You shouldn't need bigger injectors or a bigger fuel pump with your stock TD04.
Brockton is right other than a 07STi comes with a vf43 and not a TD04. That being said why do you wanna run a vented BOV? What's wrong with the stock BPV other than it not holding over 20psi of boost well...?
It just weird...My HKS was 100 percent Atmospheric...Never had any issues with it...But then again the car always had it on it...At least when I got it..Then after I got the cobb access port had it dyno tunned for everything i had on it at the time again including the HKS BOV...I m wondering if that may b part of it....Just a different Bov....At this point i did tinker with it a bit more yesterday...And its not hunting as much anymore..I ll know a lil bit more today after i get a chance to drive it a lil bit more...........
theres only 1 other thing thats bugging me....My valve train is a touch noisy..I just turned 70k...I watching a TURBO SX RFL..Bov...Thinkin about geting it
They are big POS. get a stocker or spend the money on a good BPV like a Cobb XLE.
Messing with your idle is only hurting you. You need that recirculating air. If you don't have it your car will usually run like crap unless you invest time with knowledge on tweaking the bov.
Please do more research on garbage bolt ons.
Again go with a stock BPV and that will eliminate that being an issue. Trust me when I say the closer to stock it is the easier it is to diagnose what is wrong with it or might be causing your issues... Yeah Subaru's are noisy. Took my wife a while to get use to hers being that way...It's when it stops being noisy you should worry...
